Yilay (Scorpion) represents the power of change

Logo Artwork by: Joel Barney Art

Yilay Logo

Yilay-400x400.jpg

Yilay meaning "Scorpion" in Owner, Jesse Green's native Butchulla/Badtjala language. Jesse designed the logo himself, as he felt the need for a fresh design, that is a great representation of his life.

Yilay (Scorpion) represents the power of change, Yilay being a fresh, bespoke brand in the market, it's something a client can feel privileged in wearing.

The two larger rings in the logo represent Jesse and his partner Kirrily (a Bundjalung/Gumbaynggirr woman) with the three smaller dot circles around Kirrily representing their three children. The children are presented around Kirrily. In Aboriginal Lore women are sacred and responsible for the domestic sphere. Women are also viewed as life-givers and the caretakers of life, hence this teaching is respected in this logo.

Infusion of Family - Community - Worklife

Automatically you are drawn to the vocal point at the center of the painting, this vocal point represents owner Jesse's Family. The two taller silhouettes, Jesse (Butchulla/Woppaburra/Gunditjmara man) and his partner (Bundjalung/Gumbaynggirr woman) with their eldest son between them and twin daughters either side.

The five pathways leading away from this meeting point, represent the five pathways each individual family member will lead into the broader community. As these family members make connections in their professional lives, they split to represent the partnerships established and forged. This also represents how these meaningful relationships can branch out into the broader community through mutual respect, understanding and connection.

The black/blank spaces between pathways, represent the work still required in Closing the Gap between the Indigenous and Non-Indigenous community in all aspects of professional and personal life, something Yilay is continuing to wholeheartedly strive towards.
